Clear RTV silicone based sealant and spanish cedar.?

I, thinking it would improve the humidity in my humidor used RTV sealant in the joints of the box, I wasn't necessarily neat about it either. This was some time ago, the interior is spanish cedar which is generally used for the interiors but the sealant is still sticky in nature and the cigar wrapper's were and still would stick to it. I realize I am an idiot for doing this now, is there a way to save this box, I've been using it for jewelery since I did this but want to revive it for cigars again if possible?Clear RTV silicone based sealant and spanish cedar.?

Clear, drink-safe sealant for acrylic?

I'm going to be building a model of a cup I designed out of stacked, lasercut acrylic pieces (I'm taking a SolidWorks model, slicing it horizontally, and building the cup from those slices). Ideally, this cup will be actually useable, which would require that the acrylic be somehow sealed in a way that is both watertight and non-toxic.

I have had experience with using acrylic solvent to create strong bonds between pieces, and I think that I could make it watertight if I'm careful- but are there any toxic chemicals still present after the stuff dries?

The other way I've thought of is to use aquarium-grade silicon, since that is reasonably clear and is both watertight and nontoxic- but it's also very thick, and a thinner formula would be far better suited for my purposes.

Has anyone used one of these methods before? Does anyone know of any sealants that fit my needs?

Thanks for any help you can give.Clear, drink-safe sealant for acrylic?

  • I'm looking for a clear brush on sealant?

For use on paper beads. Something along the lines of clear nail polish only cheaper, more cost friendly. I've been researching it online for hours on end and cannot seem to word it correctly to find what I need.I'm looking for a clear brush on sealant?
There are various things you could use to both seal porous surfaces like paper/etc, and leave a clear gloss finish.

The cheapest would probably be a permanent white glue (like Elmer's GlueAll) thinned down about 3 or 4 to 1 with water. Dry thoroughly between coats if you use more than one.

Probably also as cheap would be a water-based gloss polyurethane from the hardware store (';indoor';). We use the brand called Varathane all the time for polymer clay because it's cheaper than gloss finishes sold for clay and works as well or better, and it's great on porous surfaces too. Other brands of polyurethane should be fine as well.

(The ';acrylic mediums'; you'd buy at a craft or art supply store will also work, but they'll be more expensive by volume, and they'll also be more scratchable than polyurethanes --though about the same scratchability as diluted white glue, which is also sometimes susceptible to clouding from later humidity.)

There's lots more info on various kinds of clear sealants on this page at my site if you're interested:

You could use acrylic polymer gloss coat. It will be in the section where acrylic paint is sold. It comes in different sizes. Look in your local paper for discount coupons for Michael's, Jo-Ann's, or other craft store.

Is there a glue/sealant I can use to secure bits of clear PVC to a 100% Cotton t-shirt?

It's for a project of mine. What glue would be fine and would withstand constant washing? ThanksIs there a glue/sealant I can use to secure bits of clear PVC to a 100% Cotton t-shirt?
you can buy frabric glueIs there a glue/sealant I can use to secure bits of clear PVC to a 100% Cotton t-shirt?
I use 100 %Silicone Sealant. I have some white and clear. You can use it indoor/outdoor, interior/exterior, Cured Sealant is mold and mildew resistant. Won't shrink or crack. Permanently flexible. Water tight. I'm not sure but it may come in colors.

You can get it at Lowe's or Home Depot, Walmart, etc. It's not expensive.

It doesn't say cloth on the container, but a lot of the stuff on t-shirts is hard, it may work. It wouldn't hurt to try it on an old piece of material which is similar to the kind you're going to use. A lot of people already have some in their homes.

    Just a thought.
    clear silicone.
Try WundaWeb. This is an 'iron - on' adhesive tape that comes in a variety of widths. It withstands frequent washing @ 40' but do not boil wash.
    Gorilla glue.
    Super glue.
If you're prepared to wash by hand then I think that copydex would work. its a latex glue so once dry its waterproof. But be careful in application as it can yellow if you put too much on.

Question about using clear nail polish as a sealant?

I want to glue magazines clippings to a picture frame to decorate it, and i was wondering if i could just put a coat of clear nail polish on top to seal everything on and give it a shiny finish.Question about using clear nail polish as a sealant?
There is another solution other than nail polish. Nail polish is strong enough to ruin the ink on the paper, causing it to run or smudge.

Instead, use a product available at almost any craft store: decoupage.

Decoupage comes in a matt and a shiny finish. Decoupage is a glue and a sealant. It will be absolutely perfect for the project you are planning. Just brush the decoupage on the back of the magazine clipping, press onto the surface you want to attach it to and then coat the paper with the decoupage to seal the paper. This process can also be done with fabric. The jar of decoupage should provide you with other ideas in which the product can be used.Question about using clear nail polish as a sealant?
Yes, you can, glue polish belongs to a class of hydrocarbons, OK quality, lah..., but wont it be more economical if you can obtain clear varnish, from any recognised hardware dealer, it is the same principle, and if you want coloration, you can get timber varnish, or from some artwork dealers, are also available clear varnish coatings, and the finish may be matt (Rough) or smooth or even shiny (glossy) finish......
Poor idea. Nail polish is almost impossible to apply smoothly on a large surface, and it will be expensive. Take the 3rd poster's suggestion of a clear water-based coating made for decoupage.
I don't see why not... it's just laquer after all.

What type of sealant is dishwasher and food safe, but still clear?

My parents have some bowls made of of fabric that was placed over some mold I assume, then sprayed or maybe dipped in some type of sealant. It is clear, very hard, dishwasher safe, and obviously non-toxic since they are used for food. I would love a brand name or if you just know a type that fits these qualifications. 10 points best answer, thanks! What type of sealant is dishwasher and food safe, but still clear?

  • Clear Coat Sealant on Kitchen Title Counter Tops?

Houston, TXClear Coat Sealant on Kitchen Title Counter Tops?
No offense to you are any who answer, but ';coating'; any surface that possibly comes in contact with food is not a good idea. Beyond that, depending on the counter top surface substance, no type of coating will be life lasting. Tiles and micas aren't designed to accecpt and retain coatings. Certainly with tile, a grout sealer can help, but in all, you'll still have to clean on a regular basis.

    Steven Wolf
There is a sealant that you can by that makes cleaning tile a lot easier. I forget what it is called but it is in the ceramic tile supply aisle at most hardware stores. You spray it on and it seals the grout. I am assuming it is the grout that you want to be easier to maintain as tiles themselves wipe up quite nicely.

So, buy the sealant, let it dry and you will be bright white, dirt free and happy.

';What type of clear gloss sealant do i use to seal my t-shirts after airbrushing?';?

You do not use clear sealant on fabric. You just need to use an airbrush paint designed for spraying onto textiles. It remains flexible and is colorfast. A clear gloss sealant is for acrylic on canvas or board not something to be worn. It will stiffen the design and uncomfortable to wear against your skin.

In the body shop before doing paint work we use a solvent called prep-sol.It's the same thing as charcoal lighter fluid.Just wet it down and scrub it with clean paper towels.I've found that Palmolive dish soap does a pretty good job, with some effort. clay bar
PPG used to have a product called ';prep sol'; this should work ,,, follow instructions on container
Hit it with a large mallet.
McGuiar's Cleaner will work. Clay is much more involved and can lead to bad results unless you know exactly what you are doing. Follow up the cleaner with McGuiar's Polish, then McGuiars Yellow Wax #28. A machine tool will help greatly, but if you have to, you can do it by hand.
Try some Kleenz EZ from NAPA. It usually removes all bugs/wax/tar/etc. residue very well. Just be sure to reapply wax and polish afterward as your clearcoat will be completely exposed.

maybe will look a little darker thats it.

Can a sealant/clear coat be put over latex deck paint?

The floor wood of our deck is approx. 15 year old. The rails only 8. We just coated all with a latex deck color. All looks great except where the dogs walk. Is there any type of clear coating we can put over the traffic areas? It is a high sun area and we are in Kentucky. Can a sealant/clear coat be put over latex deck paint?
No, sealants are meant to go over either bare wood or stain. Paint is a poor choice in a high traffic area for this very reason. So is solid stain. You should have used a clear stain followed by the sealer.

How to remove black stains from clear shower sealant?

I have a shower with a clear sealant used around the fixtures and wherever 2 pieces were joined. That sealant now has black stains, mold/mildew? I have scrubbed it and used several different products but nothing seems to get to it. Is there anything I can do to get it clean with out replacing it? I had the same problem. Yes, it's mildew, and no, bleach won't get to it, because it's behind the silicone. Best solution is to remove the clear sealant and replace it with white (or tinted) DAP brand latex caulk. It isn't that hard to do.How to remove black stains from clear shower sealant?

  • How can I get clear concrete sealant off of my car?

There were construction guys working outside of my work and get clear concrete sealant all over my car. I went through the car wash, but nothing came off.

It looks like a clear mist is all over it - the windshield, hood, etc.

Any suggestions? How can I get clear concrete sealant off of my car?
The best thing you can do is get the name of the construction company and inform them of the damage to your car. They are responsible for any over spray that landed on your car as well as anyone Else's. The best way to get it off, honestly, is a new paint job. Or take it to an auto body specialist and hope they can buff it out. But concrete sealant is next to impossible to get off of paint. Especially if it's clear coat. I would go for the free paint job from the construction company if I was you. And as for the windshield! If it was corrosive, and pitted the glass. They would be responsible for that as well. It's a driving hazard and will need to be replaced. How can I get clear concrete sealant off of my car?
Get some lacquer thinner from Wal-mart and try it on the windshield 1st and see if it removes it, if it does then do a small portion on the paint somewhere and try it. Lacquer thinner will usually not hurt your paint job but do not soak the soft rag and do not try doing LARGE areas and do not put alot of pressure on the soft rag as you can damage the paint with to many applications. Apply car wax to cleaned area when all the contaminant has been removed. If you are not comfortable with this DuPont makes a Tar and Bug remover you could try, get it at any auto parts store. If that still does not work complain to the construction supervisor as they are legally liable for the damage because they did not Take due precautions during application of the sealant.

I'd suggest clearcoat, like they use over auto airbrush, you can now get it in a spraycan for smaller jobs like yours. An online search will give you a retailer in your area.

One word of warning though, if any of the areas you are spraying the clearcoat on are varnished, do a test patch in an unconspicuous place to ensure that it will adhere, it should, but better safe than sorry. :o)

I want to make a table like one's at Joe's Crabshack w/ clear sealant and the pictures under it.?

Does anyone know what that sealant is called?I want to make a table like one's at Joe's Crabshack w/ clear sealant and the pictures under it.?
I've done one like that before and used casting resin as the sealer. You need to build a dam around the surface of the table to keep the resin from running off the surface. Take your photos or whatevers and double back tape them to the table top. Plan on pouring about 1/4'; of casting resin over the top. It dries crystal clear with no bubbles. I'm sure that you can find it at a hobby store or craft store like Michael's.

Good luck.I want to make a table like one's at Joe's Crabshack w/ clear sealant and the pictures under it.?
its pourable polyurethane, or Decoupage, there is also a thick sealant out but cant remember the name,
Resin ! and a hardening that you have to mix it

together, it is very toxic when wet, caution to not inhale.
You can use a product called Bar Top. You can get it at a lumber yard or DIY store. They may have to order it.
THE EASIEST WAY IS TO BUILD A SWALLOW SHADOW BOX ON THE SURFACE OF THE TABLE, GLUE THE ITEMS INSIDE (OR DOUBLE-SIDED TAPE JUST TO KEEP THEM FROM MOVING IN THE NEXT STEP), GO TO YOUR LOCAL CRAFT STORES AND THEY HAVE SEVERAL TYPES OF CLEAR EPOXY FILLERS. MAKE SURE THAT IT IS NICE AND LEVEL AND WELL VENTILATED AND LET IT CURE WARNING THE EPOXIES CAN BE VERY EXPENSIVE FOR A BIG TABLE.
The product you want to use is ';EnviroTex Lite pour-on.'; It is marketed by ETI...Environmental Technology, Inc. Fields Landing, CA 95537 USA (707) 443-9323.

I don't know if the address and phone # are still good-often you can find ';pour-on'; at hobby or craft stores. It is a two part (resin/hardner) product. You can buy it in different sizes-I have seen kits as big as a gallon. I have used it many times over the years to seal photos and/or momentos to wood plaques. It is a great product. I will caution you that if exposed to direct sunlight-it will yellow and eventually crack. If you can, I recommend that you find an instruction sheet so you know how involved the project can be. One of the specified uses does involve table tops. Good Luck-hope this helps.

You use the blade from a utility knife. Just put the sharp edge against the glass, apply a little pressure, and scrape. It will all come off easily and will NOT hurt the glass.
You can purchase a special scraper that removes stuff from glass. Try a hardware store.
you can get a window scraper from b%26amp;q for about 拢2.00
disolve it off with a strong detergent or bleach.
you can but sealant remover. Try your local diy store. Careful though, if you use too much it will disolve ant sealant that you want to leave in place too.
Assuming you mean silicon sealant, just use a razor blade flat to the glass - it peels off.
petrol, or carbon techtacloride, or a alkaline degreaser. lf
try a hair dryer and nail polish remover, or acetone
